Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers continues “Avenue of Breeds” sponsorship

PUBLISHED ON JULY 30TH, 2014

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The Coalition to Support Iowa’s Farmers (CSIF) is proud to announce its sponsorship of the “Avenue of Breeds” at the Iowa State Fair for the fourth year in a row.

The 2014 Iowa State Fair runs August 7-17 and the Avenue of Breeds is one of the fair’s most popular attractions.  Located in the northwest corner of the Swine Barn, the exhibit showcases 125 different animals and provides fairgoers with educational information about the livestock displayed. Members of the North Polk FFA chapter volunteer to answer questions from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm daily and also to tend to the animals throughout the fair.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating CSIF’s ten year anniversary and our fourth year sponsoring the Avenue of Breeds at the Iowa State Fair,” CSIF Executive Director Brian Waddingham said. “We cannot thank the North Polk FFA members enough for their dedicated service to the Avenue of Breeds during the fair. These FFA members accurately depict the daily hard work and dedication of Iowa’s farm families and their efforts make the exhibit a continuous success.”

Fairgoers have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with over 55 breeds of cattle, horses, chickens, sheep and fish. The Avenue of Breeds also showcases exotic animals that are not exhibited in any other barns.

“Whether you raise livestock or have never been to an Iowa farm, the Avenue of Breeds is an exhibit for everyone to enjoy,” CSIF Executive Director Brian Waddingham said. “If you are interested in learning more about how animals are raised, where your food comes from or you want to visit with livestock caretakers, visit the Avenue of Breeds at this year’s Iowa State Fair.”
