Trimming the coarse hair on a spotted pig isn’t how many 16-year-old girls would have liked to spend part of Tuesday evening, but for Taylor Brown, it was a labor of love.
The Greenfield, Iowa, girl was preparing her pig for today’s market barrow and gilt show at the Sioux Empire Farm Show.
“I like my pig, that’s my main thing. He’s nice,” Brown said. “And cute.”
The pig was in a pen surrounded by its competitors, who either were munching greedily on an evening meal or sleeping on a soft bed of sawdust laid out on the floor of the Expo building at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
